Belton park was our 1st novice event and we arrived with an open mind. We had been told that Belton had a big cross country track and this was correct with many of the fences being up to height and a lot more technical than the pre-novice that we have been used to..

After Tara's great dressage performance at Witton Castle (33.3), we were expecting a repeat of this at Belton. We were right to do so with her doing a good test to give her 42.4 a respectful mark for a first novice .Ramblers test was not looking so promising in the warm up as he was being naughtier than normal right up until 5 minutes before the test when he started to behave him self. He went in and excelling in his lengthened stride, scoring sevens for this movement and he ended up with a score of 40.5 (nearly his best dressage score and at novice too!)

Since it was a JRN class the show jumping was up to height with two doubles. Tara was unfortunate to take a big jump into the last double just tipping the pole on the way out over the final fence. This was a shame as she had jumped one of her calmer more relaxed rounds. Rambler took well to the larger track of fences but just slightly backing off the combinations and had the 1st part of the final double down
